Privacy
Cogitare handles data belonging to minor students, and this responsibility is taken seriously from the very design of the tool — not added after the fact to tick a regulatory box. The platform is developed in compliance with Québec's Law 25, which governs the protection of personal information, and every new feature is assessed for what it means for student data before it is built.
One principle shapes the entire tool: each person has access only to what falls within their role. Teachers view their students' work in read-only mode, without being able to modify it — they can nonetheless support students in their learning through a structured feedback thread specific to each project or activity, without ever interfering directly with the student's reflective work, which remains entirely the student's own. Parents see their own child's portfolio, not those of the other students in the class. The AI assistant itself receives only the context strictly necessary for the question it asks — never a student's entire file. This separation is not just a stated policy: it is built into the way every module was designed.
A complete privacy policy, written in plain language for parents, students and school administrators, is being finalized and will be published on this page very soon. If you have any questions about data protection in Cogitare in the meantime, feel free to write to us directly.
